United Kingdom Casino Plan Laid out under Tony Blair Falls Apart

Posted under Poker

While Tony Blair was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, in 2005 the nation passed The Gambling Act, making it entirely legal for residents of the United Kingdom to enjoy gambling of all kinds online as well as be protected by strict guidelines set forth in the endless boilerplate of the new regulations.  What all this boils down to is that the previous prime minister had envisioned a world where all gambling would be strictly regulated to prevent problem gamblers as well as underage and illegal gambling but was still be made available to proprietors and casinos to provide income for the local areas, widely recognized as a sound strategy.  Blair went on to lay out plans for the construction of super casinos that would rejuvenate areas with stalled economies that could benefit from the added attention and revenue garnered from the addition of the popular gambling establishments.  This focus on bringing gambling to some type of legal incarnation and giving the gaming proprietors and establishments the ability to earn money and generate revenue for the local economy as well as the government on all levels was hailed as an innovative and breakthrough plan to decriminalize and commercialize the common activity of playing poker, both online and off.

Unfortunately, under the new government, there is less enthusiasm and support for the previous plan allowing the government to benefit from gaming and gambling establishments, especially the construction of super casinos.  The world envisioned by Tony Blair would fall far short of becoming reality, as plans for new brick-and-mortar casinos and super casino in the Manchester area have been put off and delayed repeatedly while coming under review by new Prime Minister Gordon Brown.  Despite the overall support for the idea of casinos and super casinos by the general public, as well as most officials and local government, it would seem that Brown has managed to accumulate some modicum of success in the area of resisting the new gambling laws and concept of widespread legalization of gaming and gambling.

Under Brown, the law allowing UK proprietors to provide gaming and gambling in online poker rooms is basically redundant, considering the exorbitant taxes that are levied against the earnings generated by gambling in the United Kingdom.  Other areas that have been white listed in the gambling act have far more favorable tax laws and basically ensure that no gaming or gambling establishment will open in the United Kingdom for the purposes of serving the online poker room and casino industry.

Are They More Profitable Than Their Traditional Counterparts?

Posted under Poker

In recent news, the phenomenon of online poker rooms and casinos becoming more and more popular on the Internet has grown to epic proportions.  There are a multitude of online poker rooms and casinos on the Internet and they are experiencing extreme success, despite the mountain of laws and regulations that have been aimed at these types of industries by the United States government.  With this tremendous level of success and massive amounts of revenue generated on the Internet, online poker rooms and casinos have certainly proven that they are a marketable commodity and that there is very little chance of failure at this point.  But with success comes inevitable comparisons to the traditional brick and mortar institution.  The question on everyone’s minds is if the online poker room and casino industry is more profitable than the traditional brick and mortar counterpart in areas such as the world-famous Las Vegas.  In fact, the advantages at online poker rooms and casinos so far outweigh their traditional brick and mortar counterparts that many players indicate a desire to make the transition from traditional Texas Hold’em poker tournament player to professional full-time online poker room and casino player.  This emphasis on playing on the Internet occurs for a reason, as the web features many advantages over the traditional method of playing in Texas Hold’em poker tournaments.

First and foremost, the action is much looser and features all manner of alternatives to the casual cash games that can sometimes get dull.  In addition, online poker rooms and casinos offer all manner of promotional features, such as the rakeback affiliate sharing program and the poker bonus deposit.  Some of the features at online poker rooms and casinos certainly would not translate very well to the traditional Texas Hold’em poker tournament, such as the concept of playing at multiple tables simultaneously.  This idea is so alien to the traditional Texas Hold’em poker tournament player that it is simply not even an issue.  Playing at multiple tables would be comical at best and simply is not feasible in the real world.  But this practice of playing on multiple felts for different limits is second nature to players in online poker rooms and casinos.

In the long run, it is greatly dependent on the player and their particular set limits and skills, but for the most part, it would seem that playing in online poker rooms would be far more profitable than the traditional Texas Hold’em poker tournament.

What Does the Future Hold for Online Poker Room and Casino Players?

Posted under Poker

Playing in online poker rooms and casinos has been a popular source of fun and entertainment on the Internet since the inception of these types of Internet-based gambling institutions.  But with the introduction of any type of gaming and gambling on the Web, the United States government naturally has to do their part and see what type of difficulties they can dole out to these fledgling institutions.  With the focus of the United States government on reducing the ability of online poker rooms and casinos ability to conduct business on the Internet, it becomes clear that any type of online poker room and casino that wishes to remain profitable in the future will have to find some way to circumvent these types of restrictive regulations and laws that are continuously being passed by United States legislators and lawmakers.  Until some type of workaround is adopted, the profits in online poker rooms and casinos might never again rival the earnings that were seen in the early days of these types of businesses on the web

In the future, it is hard to say what might wait for online poker room and casino players, but it is safe to say that the government doesn’t seem very likely to end the countless amounts of attacks and instances of overzealous regulations that are aimed at online poker rooms and casinos.  With all the attention that the United States government has paid to online poker rooms and casinos and the gambling institutions that are dedicated to conducting business solely through the Internet, it remains very unlikely that the online poker rooms and casinos that are so popular will have a very bright future and the professional Texas Hold’em poker tournament players that enjoy these types of recreational activities will very likely have to move on to other, greener pastures.

In some cases, the future seems bright indeed, as many online poker rooms and casinos have broadened their user base, appealing to a wider audience throughout the international community.  But as far as the United States online poker room and casino rooms and their ability to conduct business on United States soil, there is nothing but bad news on the horizon.  In fact, the United States government has prepared a tax aimed at the online poker room casino players, the first time any such tax has ever been levied against users of these types of services on the Web.

The Power of the Positive Attitude and the Professional Poker Player

Posted under Poker

Preventing a bad spell for the poker player can be difficult.  Coming out of a slump can be nearly impossible, as the players rarely know what they are doing wrong and sometimes aren’t doing anything wrong at all but all are simply unlucky.  Stepping out of these down periods can be the hardest task that the poker player can ever have to commit themselves to.  But there are some players who are more equipped to break out of the negative cycle of loss and self-doubt.  Those players who maintain a positive self attitude and believe that they will successfully make a come back and win at the game of poker have a far better chance of successfully turning out on top of the poker pot.  By maintaining a positive attitude and believing that victory is right around the corner, the less than successful player can remain motivated and believe in themselves that they can win and return to the positive effects of winning that they experienced in the past.

By affecting this positive attitude, the professional poker player can create inside themselves the belief that they can win and that they can come back from impossible odds and defeat.  This belief can sustain many players as they make their way back from a devastating victory or simply try to build a bankroll back up through a series of successive cash games and tournaments.  It is not always easy to maintain a positive attitude, as after losing a tremendous amount of money, many players tend to simply remain negative.  It is important that the player not play during these negative periods where they are basically mad at the world and cannot think clearly.  Take this time to enjoy the other sights and scenery in Las Vegas or whatever game you might enjoy and establishment that you might be attending.  Do not ever play when your head is in such a negative place.

Once the player has regained their positive attitude, they can begin again to win and play in a constructive manner. Remaining positive is not always easy, but is the single best way to improve the poker players game overall and stay motivated through what ever downturn of events might affect the player on a personal or professional level.  Focusing on this positive attitude can cause all manner of benefits for the poker player including increased concentration and stamina as well as an upbeat outlook on the match itself.

Playing Poker Full-Time

Posted under Poker

The concept of playing poker professionally is quite often beyond the players abilities in some cases, but for those that have the ability, there is a world of wealth and comfort for the player who can continuously win at the Texas Hold’em poker tournament tables.  With the focus on constantly winning and consistently coming out ahead in games of skill such as Texas Hold’em poker, there is a great emphasis on being the best Texas Hold’em poker tournament player that you can be.  By increasing the player’s skills as much as humanly possible, they increase their chances of winning exponentially.  Every time the player sits down at the professional Texas Hold’em poker tournament table, they effectively put themselves at risk to lose tremendous amounts of money.  Without the ability to come out ahead, these activities would be financial suicide.

Fortunately, those players who lack the years and years and years of experience to compete at the professional level in Texas Hold’em poker tournaments can still bring themselves up to speed and learn the skills and abilities required to be victorious against talented opponents in Texas Hold’em poker tournament play.  By investing in the multitude of instructional poker DVDs and books on how to win at Texas Hold’em poker, the Texas Hold’em professional poker player can elevate their level of skills and abilities to allow them to compete with even the most experienced professional players at the tournament.  With some books having been authored by professional Texas Hold’em poker tournament players such as Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke, there is a tremendous amount of information available that can allow the player to stand head and shoulders above the competition and win consistently, even when faced with a more skilled opponent.

With this focus on learning from books on how to win at Texas Hold’em poker and various instructional poker DVDs, the professional Texas Hold’em poker tournament player can effectively invest in themselves and begin to earn from Texas Hold’em poker on a much higher level than they currently enjoy.  Not only are these books extremely helpful, but many of the instructional poker materials at websites such as Fulltiltpoker.com are substantially cheaper than the materials offered in the run of the mill department store, thanks to wholesale distributor agreements and bargain discounts available on the Internet.

By utilizing this steady stream of instructional poker DVDs and books on how to win at Texas Hold’em poker tournaments, the professional poker player can improve their skills far more quickly than what they would be able to do by simply learning on their own and grinding it out.

Playing the Hand Versus Playing the Player

Posted under Poker

The overwhelming success of poker in multiple forms of media has sparked a tremendous amount of interest in the game amongst all walks of life.  Players flock to areas such as Las Vegas and Atlantic City to enjoy the game of poker against live competition and poker rooms and casinos up and down the strip.  This focus on bringing in new players and new action as well as attracting new blood for experienced poker players is just another aspect of the game of poker and the gambling industry worldwide.  Bringing in new players is the lifeblood of the gambling and gaming industry, as more experienced players become more skilled and move up the ladder in regards to rank, new players come in and fill in the lower levels of limit players.

But with this wealth of new players comes with a serious and disturbing lack of ability that is simply woeful to watch in action.  Players who are dealt a decent hand to begin with that in wager based on the strength of their hands in the beginning of the game rather than the hand that they will have at the end of the game.  This wagering on the hands and the strength that the player believes that it will end with is in contrast to what most expert players will advise.  Playing on the strength of the hand rather than playing against the weaknesses of the opposing player will cause more losses and thrown games than any other single method of playing poker.

Gamers and gamblers should always focus on the player rather than the cards.  If the player has a strong hand he can still be beaten by a skilled player who is well aware of the abilities of the poker player to build a decent hand out of nothing, or manipulate players at the table to raising, checking and bluffing.  Understand the psychological implications of playing poker is far more important than simply learning the score of the cards and ranking other hands by memory.  Anyone can learn the rules of a poker game, but it takes a skilled individual to consistently win and earn money at poker against live players.
